The Homes and Home Life
Our children will live in as normal a setting as we can possibly create. We will build single family homes that will house up to a maximum of 6 children per home. Each of these homes will be approximately 6000 square feet in size in order to be comfortable and best service the needs of the number of children who will be living there. Each home will be staffed by a Christian couple serving as “Mom and Dad.” The houseparents will be dedicated to providing the consistent love, discipline and direction children need. The ages of the children will vary in each home so the younger children will have big brothers or sisters to look up to, and likewise, the older children can develop a caring and responsible attitude toward their younger siblings. We firmly believe this type of home environment is crucial for our children’s development as it is well recorded and substantiated historically that children often repeat what they have experienced in their childhood. Thus, they will find it difficult to emulate and follow this example as adults if they have not had the opportunity to witness and experience this as children.
Home life will include daily family devotions, meals shared together around the table, work projects and chores (both in the home and on the ranch), family nights, family play times and outings, family vacations, attending church together each Sunday and youth group meetings at their respective churches, and various other very typical activities that children would be involved in including music, sports, horses, rodeo, 4-H and other clubs and activities.
The Ranch
The setting for all the homes will be on a working cattle and horse ranch. Ranching is a wholesome way of life providing many learning opportunities. It enables those living there to be away from the hustle and bustle of the world while enjoying a slower paced lifestyle where one is able to be out in God’s creation enjoying the beauty of their surroundings while working.
“Living on a ranch is one of the most rewarding experiences I believe anyone can ever have. The hard work involved helps to shape people and build their character while the fresh air can help to calm even the wildest spirits.” (Quote by a blogger living at King Mountain Ranch on February 25, 2015)
Our Long-Term Plans
Our vision includes building numerous homes, a school, a recreation center, an indoor riding arena, and facilities where volunteers can come stay.
